It's the end...Posted by Lorraine (Gatineau, Canada) on 10 January 2008 in Miscellaneous. ...of the world. Dark clouds, furious, unending wind, whipping trees. A warmth that shouldn't hold the great cold of Canada. Streets are deserted, except for me. In the distance the eerie haunting sound of a scared puppy. Maybe the world will end and be re-created and one day a new world weary traveller will stumble upon these last photos of the old world. He will share with the new world and bring a message that it is a better world...Because obviously the photographer was nuts.

Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaBeautiful composition and color here, Lorraine. I love the sky and various textures. Things end only to begin anew. 10 Jan 2008 5:39am @Michael Skorulski: Thanks so much Micheal, it was really unusual, hence the little short (comical) story :) Dimitrios from ATHENS, Greeceimagination is good, hope we, the existing lot can make our world better and not the new people! 10 Jan 2008 7:30am @Dimitrios: There you go, We Are The Power lol Thanks a lot Dimitrios tyan from Singapore, Singaporepowerful narrative!i like it!looks like it will turn into a good movie script dear,i mean it!You've got to go on writing!NO YOU ARE NOT NUTS! 10 Jan 2008 7:37am @tyan: lol Thanks sweet Tyan, believe me I write all the time I've even written (unpublished) novels only 'cause I have to write, it's like I have to take photos, I've a passion about those two things...I have a words and stuff blog called : http://wordsandstufflagain.blogspot.com/ ...it has poetry, comments, little stories, whimsical stuff... Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanWell...the image talks, YOU talk, too, and we like what we see and what we read!!!It looks like the end of the world, but......it isn't! LOL 10 Jan 2008 4:28pm @amy: Hey, hi there sweetie, you're missed, I hope you get to come back, and thanks so much...:) scotfot from United KingdomWhat a scoop.... getting a picture of the end of the world! Great image! 10 Jan 2008 4:46pm @scotfot: Scoop, there I KNEW you were a photo journalist, thanks a lot :) kurt from Austriathanks for your thoughts about living in an artistic world - a nice thought. and this image here is quite stunning, too. perfect composition, lorraine! 10 Jan 2008 4:53pm @kurt: Ahhh thanks so much Kurt :) Barbara from Florida, United StatesI can hear the howl of the wind and the small puppy, who I hope was saved and cuddled in a warm blanket. It is a wonderful imaginative image. It is the most creative people in history who were all just a tad nuts. The rigid ones who conform to expectations of tradition and "others" beliefs never quite see outside of the box. I wonder how much those who deserted the streets experienced this day. 10 Jan 2008 5:15pm @Barbara: I love your comment Barbara, be re-assured though that every written word was true except for the crying, scared puppy (bet your life on the fact that I would have found him ;) and of course, obviously not the end of the world, it just felt like it. I'm thinking that the deserted street was highly likely due to people who actually work lol Barbara from Florida, United StatesThank you Lorraine. I was swept up into the thought you portrayed with the image. Whether all was exact, I found it very creative. Well then those who were at work missed the experience. Keep up the good work. 10 Jan 2008 5:58pm @Barbara: and I totally loved that, thanks so much :) Laurent from Lyon, Francesuperbe atmosphère de fin du monde. 10 Jan 2008 7:40pm @Laurent: lol merci beaucoup Laurent, Vive le nouveau monde ;) Janice Thomson from CanadaWow! What a wonderfully moody photo! One can definitely feel that storm. We too have had awful wind storms the last couple days. Love your hilarious accompanying text. 10 Jan 2008 7:42pm @Janice Thomson: Thanks so much my friend, we're back into winter this morning with snow and freezing rain and winds and winter lol Jasp from Plymouth, United KingdomI always thought the end would be warmer somehow...the cold seems somewhat calmer...at peace ... no ? 10 Jan 2008 8:22pm @Jasp: Good thinking Rich...I'd rather die cold than burning...I mean if I have a choice in the matter. Personally I'd rather not feel a thing ;) Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomI like your story, conveys the desolate sense of the cold and moody landscape aptly 10 Jan 2008 10:23pm @Richard_Irwin: Ah Richard thanks you made my day :) Daroru from Amagasaki, JapanWhat's the object out on the ice Lorraine? Is that a stool for a fisherman? 10 Jan 2008 10:40pm @Daroru: It's a little fishing cabin...and they should be okay now as winter has graced us with its snowy, icy breath again lol thanks a lot Daroru :) @badala: Glad you enjoyed, thanks very much Badala :0 @Stunner: Thanks so much Stunner :) Rebecca from Leicester, United KingdomAwesome!! WOW and Whoaaaaa, dear friend, I can almost feel fire and brimstone about to pour down from the heavens!! ;) …..i'm so thankful that’s not part of the story of grace :) And I do love, love, love this image. And your vivid & masterly narrative (Barbara is right; your “nutty-ness”, if it can even be called that at all, dear lady, is a sign of pure genius. I jest not.). 11 Jan 2008 3:27am @Rebecca: Ahhh sweetie, such lovely compliments, thanks a lot I think I'm def. a bit nut ;) Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesBacked up from Friday into this one. Does that make me something like a time-traveller as I write into Thursday's post? Hmm... Anyway I love the story and the photo is starkly riveting. I don't think you're nutty, I think you are wildly creative. Keep writing and taking such great pictures Lorraine! 11 Jan 2008 12:11pm @Viewfinder: Yay VF, a time traveller indeed lol thanks so much I enjoyed your comment very much :) DaWn.~ from Iranartistic,, 12 Jan 2008 8:53pm @DaWn.~: and I love your comment, thanks a lot DaWn :) Illuci from Hurdegaryp, NetherlandsI hope you are right, the picture suggests a depressed mind. It's cold. Very suggestive! 17 Jan 2008 8:42pm @Illuci: lol Definetely high on the drama, thanks a lot Erik :) |
