I had to go out and I passed by this, and the first thing that popped into my mind was 'Itsy, woodsy cabin, falling in the lake' to the tune of "Itsy, bitsy spider...' anyway it wouldn't let go of me, so I had to stop, snap a few photos and post it so that I could get that stupid song outta my brain' lol

Please, explain, Lorraine! Is the fisherman sitting INSIDE, make a hole and waits to the fish to be stupid...OR....he fishes outside and comes in from time to time to get some heat and have a hot drink? Which is which?
I think there's no danger to fall in the lake because it will float!!!! But I like the tipsy mood, complete with tree!

@Japanalia: LOL Oh gosh 1 and foremost read my response to Michael's comment, and you'll see how this photo usurped the one meant for today. It's making a repeat performance from 'It's the end...of the world'...Now how it made it almost to the shore, I don't know. Will it sink further, I hope not...Usually they sit inside (made to stay away from that chilling wind) make a hole, sink a fishing line in, and probably drink whisky or beer, probably beer, seeing on how it's Canada and all, and probably wear tuques...gosh I have to take the song outta my mind... ;)

It would be horrible to be inside the ice fishing cabin as it sunk through the ice. Talk about give somebody the chills! But this is a great shot. I never have been ice fishing.

So does one haul this out in the winter and bring it ashore when ice fishing is over? It looks like it is patially on land too... oh yeah and I heard a song today - went something like this: Itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out....... Heh heh

LOL!! All these different comments are so hilarious!! The lakes around here are littered with these little cabins... some are quite cute as this one is and some are... well, "you might be a redneck if" comes to mind!! LOL Great shot of a favourite Canadian winter sport! LOL And the song that's going through my head is Dave and Doug MacKenzie's Great White North theme song... LOL!!

Love it. Cutest little itsy bitsy fishing shanty. (had to put the tune back in for you) I like the scene and the bare tree. I grew up with images like this but never took a photo of it then. Thanks for the childhood memory. Here you go... now I am hooked for the rest of the day at least. (Sound on)

A case of the picture taking you, rather than the other way around. I especially like the light in here which conveys a good sense of the cold and quiet of winter.

Wow. How fascinating is this!! I’ve never been ice fishing either. In fact, I seriously can’t remember ever being in a place cold enough to ice fish! Hot enough to pass out from heat-stroke, ahhhh now that’s a different matter & I do have none too pleasant memories of that….. :) But I digress……. (she says hopefully, wondering if she’s managed to ramble enough to help get “that” song out of your head *grin*)
… can’t help but say… the starkness of the image is appealing somehow, and I absolutely love the juxtaposition of textures and structures in this one, dear lady Lorraine. Nothing less than totally fabulous. And oh, can’t help but add, Elise totally loves “that” other song (about incy wincey spider climbing up the water spout, lol…. ;o) )
