Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesIs that cabin for ice fishing? Good shot! Sure looks cold! 17 Jan 2008 6:04am @Craiger: Yes, yes it is...it's falling too ;) Mandy from South AfricaHey There L. I've missed quite a few posts as I've been so busy, but I just checked through all of the ones I've missed and as always you have posted some amazing stuff over the past few days. I especially loved the one titled "Code Blue" - wow....where was that taken? Great job my very talented friend 17 Jan 2008 6:26am @Mandy: Hey Mandy, thanks so much 'Code Blue' was taken a few minutes away from the little cabin, earlier in the morning and on a much colder day ;) Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaIt's really cute. For an ice fisherman I gather. But beautifully made. It really shows some of the pastimes people have in your area. Nice, Lorraine. 17 Jan 2008 7:51am @Michael Skorulski: Thanks Michael, it wasn't supposed to be today's photo. I had to go out and I passed by this, and the first thing that popped into my mind was 'Itsy, woodsy cabin, falling in the lake' to the tune of "Itsy, bitsy spider...' anyway it wouldn't let go of me, so I had to stop, snap a few photos and post it so that I could get that stupid song outta my brain' lol Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanPlease, explain, Lorraine! Is the fisherman sitting INSIDE, make a hole and waits to the fish to be stupid...OR....he fishes outside and comes in from time to time to get some heat and have a hot drink? Which is which? 17 Jan 2008 8:07am @Japanalia: LOL Oh gosh 1 and foremost read my response to Michael's comment, and you'll see how this photo usurped the one meant for today. It's making a repeat performance from 'It's the end...of the world'...Now how it made it almost to the shore, I don't know. Will it sink further, I hope not...Usually they sit inside (made to stay away from that chilling wind) make a hole, sink a fishing line in, and probably drink whisky or beer, probably beer, seeing on how it's Canada and all, and probably wear tuques...gosh I have to take the song outta my mind... ;) @tyan: Oh not no fear darlin' my footsies are cold enough as it is ....;) @eddy: hey, I'm glad you like it, thanks Eddy :) Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaThanks, Lorraine. Loved the story you told in your response. 17 Jan 2008 9:59am @Michael Skorulski: Thank you Michael, for always leaving such nice comments :) Betty from New Jersey, United StatesWow, Lorraine, you can just feel the cold. Looks like its frozen to the lake! Nice composition. 17 Jan 2008 10:28am @Betty: Thanks a lot Betty, can you help me get the song outta my mind? :) @Natasha: Hey, thanks a lot Natasha :) Laurent from Lyon, Francela lumière est très belle et le cadrage est très bon. J'adore! 17 Jan 2008 11:54am @Laurent: Merci beaucoup Laurent, c'est une chanson pour les enfants...;) Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesIt would be horrible to be inside the ice fishing cabin as it sunk through the ice. Talk about give somebody the chills! But this is a great shot. I never have been ice fishing. 17 Jan 2008 1:14pm @Viewfinder: No kidding, but in this case, it's right next to shore..no danger lol Ice fishing? NOT my thing either lol laughingwolf from Canadapoor ol ice fishing hut... crazy weather these days make such endeavors quite hazardous :( 17 Jan 2008 2:33pm @laughingwolf: I know, poor Itsy woodsy cabin...:) will someone please take that song outta mind!!! I'd wait for the water to warm up first...and def....after the coffe ;) Daroru from Amagasaki, JapanWhat a crazy place to build your cabin. Not to mention how small they made it. 17 Jan 2008 2:56pm @Daroru: LOL no kidding, it used to be in the middle of the river, it's small 'cause it's just for fishing (recreational purposes) @Reza: That is it..cold that is...Thanks so much Reza :) Janice Thomson from Courtenay BC, CanadaSo does one haul this out in the winter and bring it ashore when ice fishing is over? It looks like it is patially on land too... oh yeah and I heard a song today - went something like this: Itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out....... Heh heh 17 Jan 2008 4:02pm @Janice Thomson: lol oh yeah, and thanks so much for helping me NOT GETTING THE SONG OUTTA MY BRAIN aaarghhhh lol @Hoopand: Hey thanks for your visit Hoopand, if you think it's cold today, wait 'til tomorrow :) amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaLOL!! All these different comments are so hilarious!! The lakes around here are littered with these little cabins... some are quite cute as this one is and some are... well, "you might be a redneck if" comes to mind!! LOL Great shot of a favourite Canadian winter sport! LOL And the song that's going through my head is Dave and Doug MacKenzie's Great White North theme song... LOL!! 17 Jan 2008 5:27pm @amy: LOL thanks so much Amy, love Dave and Doug especially they're rendition of the 12 days of Christmas ;) thanks a lot..so when do I get to see your redneck cabins ;) Barbara from Florida, United StatesLove it. Cutest little itsy bitsy fishing shanty. (had to put the tune back in for you) I like the scene and the bare tree. I grew up with images like this but never took a photo of it then. Thanks for the childhood memory. Here you go... now I am hooked for the rest of the day at least. GJC from Kyoto, JapanA case of the picture taking you, rather than the other way around. I especially like the light in here which conveys a good sense of the cold and quiet of winter. 17 Jan 2008 10:22pm @GJC: Oh I like that :) thanks a lot GJC MontereyJohn from Salinas, California, United StatesLet's see what's going on up in Santa Claus's backyard... ice fishing shack, eh? Dean Francis from Midwest, United StatesHey, Lorraine. I tried to check out this photo, but for some reason, it wouldn't display. Dean 18 Jan 2008 1:22am @Dean Francis: Hey Dean, that's happened to me day before yesterday for a few sites??? Whenever you get around to it, thanks a lot :) Rebecca from Leicester, United KingdomWow. How fascinating is this!! I’ve never been ice fishing either. In fact, I seriously can’t remember ever being in a place cold enough to ice fish! Hot enough to pass out from heat-stroke, ahhhh now that’s a different matter & I do have none too pleasant memories of that….. :) But I digress……. (she says hopefully, wondering if she’s managed to ramble enough to help get “that” song out of your head *grin*) 18 Jan 2008 2:37am @Rebecca: Great compliment sweetie and thanks for distracting me...It worked...until you brought it up in the conclusion!!! But since I'll be singing with your beautiful little Elise, I don't mind so much ;) Barb from CanadaThe more I see of your photos the more I know you're very talented.
