Great Shot. 18 Feb 2008 7:17am @T-Daddy: Oh yes it is T-Daddy, thanks so much ;) Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesExcellent! Now I'm going to go put a jacket on! 18 Feb 2008 8:41am @Craiger: You'll need much more than a jacket Craiger lol thanks so much for visiting :) Ian Bramham from Manchester, United KingdomVery dramatic and beautiful Lorraine! I've been meaning to ask you, what's the best way of keeping the falling snow off your camera lens?....will a simple umbrella do the trick?..... We still haven't had any snow this winter but I want to be prepared! LoL (its -5 deg C today here by the way, but the daffodils are out in our garden wondering if they've done the right thing :-) 18 Feb 2008 8:49am @Ian Bramham: Oh the Master asks a question. Nervous? me? no way, I know my snow lol well there's the umbrella, then that side gadget that protects your lense from snow-rain, however, elements don't obey to your photographic needs and sometimes fall from all directions: up, down, sideways, straight to your lense. So technically if it snows as much as the photo above, then the accumulation on your lense (cause it will happen) will blend in well with the storm so it won't detract from the photo much. Sometimes though it damages a photo and you can try cropping or clone stamping. OR strangely enough, the simplest thing, for me, has been to take it from the car, I roll down the window, find the best spot to take it and snap away. It's simple and sneaky and most of the time works. WOW I feel so good giving you a suggestion lol ;) Elle from Toronto, CanadaThis makes me feel as if I'm Alice in Wonderland (: Haha. 18 Feb 2008 9:23am @Elle: Hey Elle from Wonderland lol you know it, you know it fellow-Canadian ;) martie from Okinawa, JapanLorrraine - this is stunning! Since I currently live on a semi-tropical island, I can admire these views. However, next year I'll be living in a winter environment and I don't think I'll find the snow so pleasing then. But I love how you capture the beauty of winter. 18 Feb 2008 10:27am @martie: Thanks so much Martie, and really, oh gosh, take as many photos as you can lol ;) DaveB from Exeter, United KingdomBoo, everyone seems to have snow to take pictures of but me! 18 Feb 2008 11:16am @DaveB: Oh Dave, If I only could, I'd send 2/3 over, and there still would be snow mountains here ;) Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesAnother beautiful snowscape, Lorraine! It seems, though, you get plenty of practice in the snow. 18 Feb 2008 11:24am @Ron: Snow I got, and lots of practice to go with it...can I know practice on flowers? ;) thanks a lot Ron! Steven from Montreal, CanadaReminds me of those scenes musical globes, well done! 18 Feb 2008 11:48am @Steven: Really Snow Globes? ahhh you made my day! I love snow globes LOL Betty from United StatesThis is a beautiful shot of the falling snow! Love it, Lorraine! Great tip on how to keep it off your lens! I went out with a plastic shopping bag over the camera and cut a hole for the lens. 18 Feb 2008 11:54am @Betty: Well Betty, aren't you a practical genius, I like it, I'll try it, thanks a lot ;) GJC from Kyoto, JapanWonderful shot! And I love how you cropped the tree at the top, which makes it very interesting. Another great view of winter. 18 Feb 2008 12:03pm @GJC: Lovely compliment thanks so much GJC :) MJ from Delaware, United Statesgrwat capture and composition.... Hmmm, someone is even hiding behind the little snow mound.. hee hee hee... Damn, you guys have really gotten it hard out there this winter. I sincerely feel for you. Right now we have a chinook so it's warm with above 0^C temps... feels like spring.. it isn't but it's still nice for the moment. Oh, and I'll use a freezer ziplock for my camera in the nasty weather. 18 Feb 2008 6:35pm @amy: Hey Amy, another smartie pants ;) well, would you believe that the day before it iced over then it melted yesterday it went up to 9 degrees, 9 degrees....I tell you, don't know what to wear anymore. And of course, my darling Toyota that has never failed me at Minus 40 degrees, wouldn't start yesterday! standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceVery nice composition. I like the still flakes here 18 Feb 2008 7:29pm @standley: Thanks Standley, it was an easy shot, they're everywhere ;) Scotfot from Kabul, AfghanistanHi Lorraine, you are indeed the Master of the snowy image! Great picture, like Amy I noticed the guy hiding behind the snow mound! On technique, coming from Scotland where the snow often falls horizontally and driven at high speed... I use the same technique as you 'take it from the car' - it has the added advantage of having central heating :-) 18 Feb 2008 7:35pm @Scotfot: LOL thanks a lot Bob, couldn't fool you, it's all about the heat :) Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesYou are the master of the snowflakes, me thinks!! :D 18 Feb 2008 8:50pm @Judy: Thanks a lot Judy, we all have to be smart and comfortable, bien sur ;) Mr. Fabulous from Gainesville, United StatesThis is a great shot. Nicely captured! 19 Feb 2008 1:35am @Stunner: thanks a lot Stunner, to my eyes all my photos are starting to look the same, time to think 'inside' shot lol Gary from Cochise County, United StatesNow that's a snowstorm. I love the textures!!!!!!!!!!! 19 Feb 2008 1:43am @Gary: Hey Gary, yes it was, then it got Icy then it when up to 9 degrees, and now I'm looking at yet another snow storm, ahhahahahah thanks for visiting ;) Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanI favour here the background, very well captured. I'd have preferred a tree other than a pine tree which is too dense...it makes for "an old man in the snow", but clear forked branches would have been a real bonus. 19 Feb 2008 5:28am @Japanalia: Thanks a lot Gabriela, I'll see what I can do about forked branches...problem is, they're all covered ;) |
