Gasp! ! This is awesome Lorraine! So crisp and beautiful with the frosted trees against a cold, clear, blue sky. You have sure made the most of the awful weather you have been having in your part of the world - such wonderful snow photos for a while! Is the weather any warmer yet. Haven't seen the full forecast for days! ;-)

Just......Wonderland!!! When you think that there are so many places in the world where they try to make/create such a landscape with artificial snow and tinsel! While you have only to open your door! For the sake of such a view you can forget the grey days!

Hoar frost is that delicate frost on the branches in your image. It's caused from fog/cold/moisture in the winter. It clings to the branches almost like snow but usually has a crystaline look to it as well. As soon as the sun comes out it starts warming up it falls from the trees or whatever else it clings to. It's kind-of like when you have the dryer vent close to a bush and in the winter when the dryer is running the moist air that comes out "freezes" and clings to the bush.
