Your Promises... as easily swept as fingerprints on a mirror.
Brrrr, that looks soooo cold. But what a wonderful shot and I love your comment too. No wonder you are missing the flowers.

@Marion: You've said it Marion, Spring cannot get here soon enough ;)
I love the image. The boat looks wedged in the ice and can't move. No need for ropes. But I see it as a promise of the joys of sailing soon to come. Perhaps the owner couldn't wait and put his boat in early. Wonderful photo, Lorraine.

@Michael Skorulski: Thanks a lot Michael, eagerness should not outweigh patience as it does in this case ;)
Again, you show us a good sense of humor here, too. You're obviously making the best you can out of your very long winter. I look forward to when you send us a picture of this same boat bobbing in the blue water. :)

@GJC: You and me boat (;) GJC
It does look very coooold! BUt as I said earlier, I discover the beauty of winter thru all your takes, they are wonderful!

@ManuelaR: Thanks a lot Manuela, I don't want to lose my love of Winter, its quietness, its beauty, but HELL I'm fed up, it's been a very harsh winter :)
Wow! The boat is definately NOT going anywhere soon! Great capture Lorraine!
18 Mar 2008 4:29am
@Ina: Poor thing, I don't knw how it'll survive, thanks Ina :)
This shot IS winter! You can actually SEE the cold! Beautiful shot, Lorraine! I'm wondering, too, when is it going to get WARM!
18 Mar 2008 4:58am
@Betty: Thanks Betty, we have to get tougher, 'cause there's a lot more winter to come :)
Meanwhile, back in winter... I do hope things will defrost for you one day. Very nice winter look, nonetheless.

@Viewfinder: Vf, not for a while but hey, it's Canada ;)
Great shot, especially in b&w. How odd to see a single boat at the marina. It makes for a very stark and lonely image....
18 Mar 2008 6:14am
@Chris: I appreciate that Chris, thanks a lot :)
Beautiful choice to go with the monochrome, Lorraine…the solitude and incongruity are so beautifully communicated here.
You asked how I choose to visit the blogs each day: I have about a dozen (on my blog watch) that I check out everyday…faithfully. Periodically during the day, I take about 5 minutes and I go to the community page and the first image that captures my attention…I go there; then back to the community page and the first image that captures my attention…I go there next. I limit myself to 5 minutes or so at a time so that I can get some work done during the day. But I've found that by doing this I'm visiting a somewhat random and diverse selection of blogs each day. I have added some of the randomly visited blogs to my blog watch. I really have enjoyed this blogging experience…it has been so rewarding and it challenges me to stretch my creative self.

@Ron: thanks for the beautiful comment Ron, and thanks for the advice, it's helpful :)
lovely b&w pic....in summer this must be an great motive, boats and waterscape! but in the coldnes of winter its a big differend in "aussage" (dont know the word in english)
18 Mar 2008 6:33am
@Hans: Thanks a lot Hans, beautiful comment and you know how I lov eto learn new words, according to the FREE internet translation it's a 'state', so I get the message ;) lol
An unusually melancholy one from you... is there a story about the boat you want to share with us Lorraine...?
18 Mar 2008 8:10am
@Daroru: That's lovely Daroru and ahhh, no. ;)

i feel the same as the boat does... cold, awaiting spring... though we were told not to expect a real break til mid april! :(
18 Mar 2008 8:41am
@laughingwolf: Wow mid April, I'll be happy if Spring comes at all lol
An excellent capture mon amie - the accompanying words are perfect for this shot. Your black and whites are superb.

18 Mar 2008 4:16pm
@standley: Merci Richard, je sais que c'est inévitable, mais de temps en temps, je me demande...
What a great way to describe this image!! Excellent shot, Lorraine! The monochramtic tones just excemplify the "incongruity".
And what about poor NFLD?? Crikies they've been hit BAD!
18 Mar 2008 7:23pm
@amy: Thanks a lot Amy, I know poor Nfld, crushed in major snow!
Profoundly beautiful black and white.
18 Mar 2008 7:28pm
@Rebecca: Thanks a lot Rebecca :) I hope you are well...
I hope the ice doesn't crush it.
18 Mar 2008 7:38pm
@Michael Rawluk: I had hope that it wouldn't but alas.... ;)
Clever to say the least. Bravo....is it always this cold 24/7 :)
18 Mar 2008 7:43pm
@Ras: Thanks a lot Ras, yes it is, although it does warm up when it snows ;)
That boat is really hanging in there waiting for warmer weather. A great b&w image Lorraine.
18 Mar 2008 8:19pm
@MaryB: Thanks so much MaryB, I appreciate it :)
when spring comes, promise me you will take a picture of this boat bobbing in clear blue water with sea gulls flying around...sigh..this has a real melancholic feel babe, and it is as if somebody is held up here by somebody who hasnt fulfilled his promise to come..:p
18 Mar 2008 8:43pm
@tyan: Oh Tyan, what a sweet poetic comment...:)
Ça me rappelle quelques chose... Il est presque prêt à partir!

Wonderful shot Lorraine! That looks really cold though.
18 Mar 2008 10:51pm
@Stunner: Thanks a lot Stunner, it's a little less cold as it's snowing right now lol
Oh, dear God, can there be promises there where winter lasts six months a year?. You spend the other six months preparing for the next winter! There's such a feeling of despair in this composition that it breaks my heart!
20 Mar 2008 7:05am
@Japanalia: but then there are your beautiful photos to view...all is not lost :)
'It be snowing.' Brilliant one! I really like it!
20 Mar 2008 4:12pm
@Porcsin: Glad you do, thanks Porcsin :)
