Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaBrrrr, that looks soooo cold. But what a wonderful shot and I love your comment too. No wonder you are missing the flowers. 18 Mar 2008 5:06am @Marion: You've said it Marion, Spring cannot get here soon enough ;) Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaI love the image. The boat looks wedged in the ice and can't move. No need for ropes. But I see it as a promise of the joys of sailing soon to come. Perhaps the owner couldn't wait and put his boat in early. Wonderful photo, Lorraine. 18 Mar 2008 6:27am @Michael Skorulski: Thanks a lot Michael, eagerness should not outweigh patience as it does in this case ;) GJC from Kyoto, JapanAgain, you show us a good sense of humor here, too. You're obviously making the best you can out of your very long winter. I look forward to when you send us a picture of this same boat bobbing in the blue water. :) 18 Mar 2008 7:25am @GJC: You and me boat (;) GJC ManuelaR from Hainburg, GermanyIt does look very coooold! BUt as I said earlier, I discover the beauty of winter thru all your takes, they are wonderful! 18 Mar 2008 9:00am @ManuelaR: Thanks a lot Manuela, I don't want to lose my love of Winter, its quietness, its beauty, but HELL I'm fed up, it's been a very harsh winter :) Ina from Krugersdorp, South AfricaWow! The boat is definately NOT going anywhere soon! Great capture Lorraine! 18 Mar 2008 9:29am @Ina: Poor thing, I don't knw how it'll survive, thanks Ina :) Betty from New Jersey, United StatesThis shot IS winter! You can actually SEE the cold! Beautiful shot, Lorraine! I'm wondering, too, when is it going to get WARM! 18 Mar 2008 9:58am @Betty: Thanks Betty, we have to get tougher, 'cause there's a lot more winter to come :) Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesMeanwhile, back in winter... I do hope things will defrost for you one day. Very nice winter look, nonetheless. 18 Mar 2008 11:03am @Viewfinder: Vf, not for a while but hey, it's Canada ;) Chris from South Jersey, United StatesGreat shot, especially in b&w. How odd to see a single boat at the marina. It makes for a very stark and lonely image.... 18 Mar 2008 11:14am @Chris: I appreciate that Chris, thanks a lot :) Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesBeautiful choice to go with the monochrome, Lorraine…the solitude and incongruity are so beautifully communicated here. You asked how I choose to visit the blogs each day: I have about a dozen (on my blog watch) that I check out everyday…faithfully. Periodically during the day, I take about 5 minutes and I go to the community page and the first image that captures my attention…I go there; then back to the community page and the first image that captures my attention…I go there next. I limit myself to 5 minutes or so at a time so that I can get some work done during the day. But I've found that by doing this I'm visiting a somewhat random and diverse selection of blogs each day. I have added some of the randomly visited blogs to my blog watch. I really have enjoyed this blogging experience…it has been so rewarding and it challenges me to stretch my creative self. 18 Mar 2008 11:16am @Ron: thanks for the beautiful comment Ron, and thanks for the advice, it's helpful :) Hans from Heiligeneich, Austrialovely b&w pic....in summer this must be an great motive, boats and waterscape! 18 Mar 2008 11:33am @Hans: Thanks a lot Hans, beautiful comment and you know how I lov eto learn new words, according to the FREE internet translation it's a 'state', so I get the message ;) lol Daroru from Amagasaki, JapanAn unusually melancholy one from you... is there a story about the boat you want to share with us Lorraine...? 18 Mar 2008 1:10pm @Daroru: That's lovely Daroru and ahhh, no. ;) Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceIncroyable image de ce qu'on peut réellement appeler un hiver rigoureux. Pascal 18 Mar 2008 1:34pm @adlibitumphotos: WOW, comme il est charmant ton commentaire, merci beaucoup Pascal :) laughingwolf from Canadai feel the same as the boat does... cold, awaiting spring... though we were told not to expect a real break til mid april! :( 18 Mar 2008 1:41pm @laughingwolf: Wow mid April, I'll be happy if Spring comes at all lol Janice Thomson from Courtenay BC, CanadaAn excellent capture mon amie - the accompanying words are perfect for this shot. Your black and whites are superb. 18 Mar 2008 3:33pm @Janice Thomson: Merci beaucoup ma chère amie :) @Reza: No Spring in site yet lol Thanks a lot Reza :) yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greecevery beautiful and impressive image (here in greece today is 20 celsius degrees) 18 Mar 2008 4:12pm @yiannis krikis: Thanks a lot Yiannis, 20 celcius, wow a heat wave ;) Marie from Grenoble, Franceun superbe cliché qui donne le frisson; tout en ambaince black and white! 18 Mar 2008 4:41pm @Marie: Merci beaucoup Marie :) @Ana Lúcia: I appreciate that Ana L. thanks a lot ;) Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomPheeeww, thats looks extreme.....spring must surely be with you in a couple of weeks. De belles promesses pour l'été! 18 Mar 2008 9:16pm @standley: Merci Richard, je sais que c'est inévitable, mais de temps en temps, je me demande... amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaWhat a great way to describe this image!! Excellent shot, Lorraine! The monochramtic tones just excemplify the "incongruity". And what about poor NFLD?? Crikies they've been hit BAD! 19 Mar 2008 12:23am @amy: Thanks a lot Amy, I know poor Nfld, crushed in major snow! @Rebecca: Thanks a lot Rebecca :) I hope you are well... @Michael Rawluk: I had hope that it wouldn't but alas.... ;) Ras from Plano, United StatesClever to say the least. Bravo....is it always this cold 24/7 :) 19 Mar 2008 12:43am @Ras: Thanks a lot Ras, yes it is, although it does warm up when it snows ;) MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomThat boat is really hanging in there waiting for warmer weather. A great b&w image Lorraine. 19 Mar 2008 1:19am @MaryB: Thanks so much MaryB, I appreciate it :) tyan from Singapore, Singaporewhen spring comes, promise me you will take a picture of this boat bobbing in clear blue water with sea gulls flying around...sigh..this has a real melancholic feel babe, and it is as if somebody is held up here by somebody who hasnt fulfilled his promise to come..:p 19 Mar 2008 1:43am @tyan: Oh Tyan, what a sweet poetic comment...:) Martine Lapointe from Québec, CanadaÇa me rappelle quelques chose... Il est presque prêt à partir! 19 Mar 2008 2:35am @Martine Lapointe: Retenu que par le gel ;) Merci beaucoup Martine!!! Stunner from Kingston, JamaicaWonderful shot Lorraine!
