Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaI think I know someone who will be so happy when all that snow is finally gone, but just think how much it has nourished the earth and soon you will have flowers and blossoms galore. Great picture Lorraine. 14 Apr 2008 5:21am @Marion: Lovely attitude Marion, and guess what it's almost all gone, Yay! thanks a lot:) @Hans: Thanks a lot Hans, it is getting warmer :) Janice Thomson from CanadaNeat old building mon amie. Thanks so much, I'll visit soon :) Observing from Chester, United KingdomI especially like the slight tone that's been applied, this adds to the cold look of the scene. I was looking last night at a webcam in Canada, snow was falling there. Harsh Winter indeed. 14 Apr 2008 10:24am @Observing: Hey Mike, isn't it amazing? I love snow, I wouldn't trade Canada's four seasons for anything, but this winter, gosh it's been harsh, thanks so much :) GJC from Kyoto, JapanAfter yesterday's bright colors, we're back to more somber tones. Well, at least it's a lovely old barn, though it looks as tired of winter as you must be. 14 Apr 2008 11:46am @GJC: You've got it right on the button GJC, but it's melting now, yay! Thanks always :) MJ from Delaware, United Stateswhat a wonderful old buidling...so much character... Mandy Provan from Johannesburg, South AfricaGorgeous image - love the sepia..... 14 Apr 2008 3:49pm @Mandy Provan: Hey Mandy, thanks so much :) Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaBeautiful processing. I really like old buildings and the composition. Maybe clone the car out of the bottom. 14 Apr 2008 3:57pm @Michael Rawluk: Wow Michael, you have a good eye, I cropped it out some, ..thought it blended well enough in the snow not to be noticed, tsk, tsk on me. Thanks a lot :) @yiannis krikis: Thanks a lot Yiannis, it's appreciated ;) ManuelaR from Hainburg, GermanyLove the sepia tint and I feel for you with all that snow still! 14 Apr 2008 4:29pm @ManuelaR: Thanks so much Manuela and no fear it's almost all gone, yay!!! ;) Illuci from Hurdegaryp, NetherlandsI like old barns and if there were more around I would start a collection! Thi one has a window of a shape (the tilted square) that we see here too in old barns, I just shot one last week, I 'll post it next week. This barn and also others have something sad, being abandoned and not being taken care of anymore, but they keep their dignity one way or another. 14 Apr 2008 8:01pm @Illuci: Beautifully said Erik and I'll look forward to seeing yours :) standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceC'est vraiment magnifique. Bravo pour le choix des tons sépia! 14 Apr 2008 8:25pm @standley: Merci beaucoup Richard :) Ian Bramham from Manchester, United KingdomI love the barn and the mono tones in this one Lorraine! 14 Apr 2008 9:36pm @Ian Bramham: Thanks so much Ian, it's a pleasure to see you here :) Andrew Gould from Sydney, AustraliaYou certainly do convey the harshness of it here, Lorraine. Good composition and nice tones in this photo. 14 Apr 2008 10:30pm @Andrew Gould: Thanks for the lovely compliment Andrew, I appreciate it :) tyan from Singapore, Singaporethe sepia really worked great here, and aptly suits your title,or the other way round. The 'hard-metal' look of the roof does give the house a cold feel.I cant wait to see spring over your side!:) 15 Apr 2008 2:04am @tyan: Nice comment sweetie and funny the roof really impacted too, thanks a lot ;) @isabel: Thanks a lot Isabel :) Gary from Cochise County, United StatesThis could pass for a very old photo. Good job making it timeless Lorraine. 16 Apr 2008 9:51pm @Gary: I appreciate that Gary, thanks :) |
