Did you set this up? If not, how did you manage to capture it? 25 May 2008 7:55am @Andrew Gould: Hey Andrew, that's where the ' never leave home without your cam ' comes handy. I went to an ATM machine to get money, and there they were, those three lovely girls, asleep, I took a shot while withholding the flash, just as they started to wake up, one opening her eyes and smiling at the one who was still deeply asleep and the other one had just started waking and getting up simultaneously, she was a little unsettled. They never noticed me lol @isabel: I appreciate that Isabel, thanks :) @M!NA: I appreciate your comment, thanks a lot :) Betty from New Jersey, United StatesLove the touches of color... very well done, Lorraine! 25 May 2008 10:03am @Betty: aren't they neat, thanks a lot Betty :) mat from brest, Francelike the others, i would just say it's a beautiful shot Mat 25 May 2008 10:27am @mat: Thanks a lot Mat :) @Hans: Thanks a lot Hans :) @vu@granby - Wolfgang: Merci beaucoup Wolfgang @Daroru: Thanks a lot Daroru :) @Ana Lúcia: Thanks Ana :) Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaNice splotches of color, Lorraine. Makes me wonder just what the girl has been up to. A super intriguing image. 25 May 2008 11:46am @Michael Skorulski: I don't think they're runaways, but maybe they partied a bit ? lol martie from okinawa, JapanLorraine - this is superb! I am so glad you carry your camera everywhere. This is a beautiful composition - and I love that hair! Excellent!!!! 25 May 2008 12:20pm @martie: Thanks so much Martie it's when I get something like this, that it's all worth the hassle ;) Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesReading your reply to Andrew makes me wonder why on earth the girls were sleeping on the floor in the first place. Are they homeless children and was that girl's hair really that color? 25 May 2008 12:35pm @Judy: I thought the same, what's the story? They don't look neglected, they have a certain confidence...I'd love to see them again just to check ;) @MJ: They didn't seem in a bad situation or I would have offered some money or a shoulder, but I can't help but wonder...I hope I see them again :) Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaLorraine, I agree, you should never go anywhere without your camera. Another wonderful people shot, plus I love the bits of color. They don't look like they are homeless, too well dressed for that. But it sure makes you wonder why they were sleeping near an ATM. 25 May 2008 1:22pm @Marion: Totally agree, but still, I am curious too ;) lol thanks so much Marion :) Observing from Chester, United KingdomIt's so useful having a phone next to your bed. Nice casual 'life' shot Lorraine. 25 May 2008 1:43pm @Observing: Hey Mike, I would hate that, nothing worse than a phone waking you up lol thanks a lot :) yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greecebeautiful moments and color selection - very nice reportage work 25 May 2008 1:48pm @yiannis krikis: Thanks Yiannis, that's a nice compliment :) Anne from White Rock, CanadaReally great record shot Lorraine! I too wonder why they were sleeping there? As mentioned above they look too well clad to be homeless. I bet the little devils had just stayed out all night and daren't go home! Great catch Lorraine! ;-) 25 May 2008 2:03pm @Anne: lol that's my take on it Anne thanks so much! :) Koushiro~光子郎 from Singapore, SingaporeGreat shot! Like the pink effect of the hair! Well done! 25 May 2008 2:06pm @Koushiro~光子郎: Thanks a lot Koushiro, i appreciate it :) Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanAre these yesterday's buds, by chance???? They sure grow up quickly! The effect of colours against mono is used with much subtlety. I like the way the three of them are building a winding movement which has lots of tenderness in it. 25 May 2008 3:46pm @Japanalia: lol too sweet, thanks so much Gabriela, and yes I love how tenderly she looks upon the sleeping one :) Barbara from Florida, United StatesExcellent spontaneous capture. I like the tone and selective color, the colorful hair adds a nice touch. And their parents thought they were at school or studying. I too am a strong believer, never leave home without your camera (and coffee) 25 May 2008 4:13pm @Barbara: Thanks a lot Barbara, and yes very smart addition ;) kurt from Austriayesss - always take your camera with you. :-) 25 May 2008 4:53pm @kurt: Thanks for the lovely compliment Kurt :) Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaWonderful shot but it is a bit sad that they had to sleep there. 25 May 2008 4:53pm @Michael Rawluk: Thanks a lot Michael, I'm not sure they had too. They don't have the destitute look of street kids...but who knows what the real story is ;) standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceC'est superbe Lorraine. That could be it Wolf...They have great sales at Zeller's ;) amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaBrilliant, Lorraine!! The selective colour is quite inspired. Outstanding, my friend!! As to why? I am so curious as well. The one that's still sleeping looks a bit young to be out partying all night. And where are the parents? To me this is a scary portrayal of today's family. You've really got an evocative story in this image!! 25 May 2008 10:00pm @amy: Thanks so much sweetie, I'm always very curious about their situation, they didn't have that helpless/hopeless feel about them, so I'm not worried, but I sure am curious :) JoeB from Brampton, CanadaWas this in Montreal? I always noticed a lot of homeless children in the downtown area. Great shot but also sad. 25 May 2008 10:12pm @JoeB: Hey Joe, nope not Montreal, it's Gatineau, we don't have street kids! I, as many, would love to know the story lol Thanks a lot! Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesAmazing shot. Well processed; it's perfect. 25 May 2008 10:34pm @Viewfinder: Wow, a perfect shot? I've never had one of those LOL thanks a lot Vf ;) Ian Bramham from Manchester, United KingdomThey look like they were waiting for someone and she fell asleep in the warm sun! 25 May 2008 10:40pm @Ian Bramham: That could be it...Good thinking Ian ;) John Maslowski from Dallas, PA, United StatesOutstanding shot, great job composing this one. 26 May 2008 2:33am @John Maslowski: Hey John, no planned production here, I came in to get cash from the ATM and there they were asleep..waking up slowly, handy that I had my cam...they never saw me :) Janice Thomson from CanadaThis is an awesome capture of a moment in life mon amie. Your selective coloring adds mystery and unanswered questions to the scene. Again one of your best. 26 May 2008 3:46am @Janice Thomson: Thanks Dear Lady, it is one of my favourite, usually the totally unexpected ones, are, it makes up for the awkwardness of always carrying two cameras with me, poor things, they get banged a lot (my cameras) ;) [terrorkitten] from Bath, United Kingdomwell they look kind of clean and tidy so I am assuming they are just resting a while and not in fact sleeping rough! 26 May 2008 9:38am @[terrorkitten]: Thanks Phil I would have liked to know what they were doing...but they never saw me ;) @jasp: I smile right after my first sip of coffee ;) Ras from Plano, United StatesI just love the richness of thought and information in this one. 27 May 2008 6:47pm @Ras: thanks a lot Ras for the lovely compliment :) Jean-Benoît Maréchal from Dinant, BelgiumBelle composition très dynamique : du coucher au lever... Y 12 May 2009 5:58pm |
