If he were smoking a cigarette, it would be even more fun! 17 Jul 2008 6:30am @Michael Skorulski: Oh Michael! I knew someone would bring it up! Do you have any idea how long it took me to make up my mind which photo to post, of course he was smoking lol this photo had its long silhouette and was a better image. The other wasn't as good quality, not as clear, but you could see the smoke from the cigarette forming a circle, I went back and forth...posted one than the other, then settled for this one...crap now I'm not sure again, BUT HEY thanks so much lol arrrrtghhh Ras from Plano, United StatesI thought he would be smoking but alas it's beautiful. 17 Jul 2008 6:50am @Ras: Not you too Ras, lol check my comment to Michael and thanks a lot ;) @Ana Lúcia: thanks a lot Ana I've managed to sneak in my comment section, but I can't access anyone's blog? is it me? António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalNice image. The smoke acts as a sort of pre-processing noise. 17 Jul 2008 9:33am @António Pires: Thanks a lot Antonio :) Betty from New Jersey, United StatesThe B&W is really nice for this composition, I love the long shadow. I would love to see the other shot, Lorraine! 17 Jul 2008 10:05am @Betty: Thanks sweetie, it's on for tomorrow ;) martie from United StatesBeautiful work Lorraine! This is a remarkable image. There is emotion here as if the man is trying to figure out life, there is a sadness. I love the light edging the frame of his body and the long shadow. Immediately seeing the image I thought of it as a man with a cigarette. 17 Jul 2008 1:29pm @Barbara: Maybe you're a visionary Barb, thanks so much, tomorrow you'll see the smoke ;) Craig from Vacaville, California, United StatesLove the light and shadow in this shot Lorraine!!! 17 Jul 2008 1:29pm @Craig: Thanks very much Craig :) Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan"The Man and His Shadow"......what a good subject for a story! Definitely....I like your capture!Remarkable inspiration to make it B&W! 17 Jul 2008 1:36pm @Japanalia: Oh Yeah 'The Man and His Shadow' works for me Gabriella :) thanks always :) JoeB from Brampton, CanadaIs it smoke or morning mist? The long shadow he casts is very dramatic that's as technical that I'm going to get this morning. 17 Jul 2008 2:00pm @JoeB: Hey Joe...neither, although there is a little smoke which you will see tomorrow...I'll keep you guys guessing until tomorrow ;) thanks a lot Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesSmoke or dust? It's hard to identify what this person is standing on. Looks a bit like a raised grassy/dusty spot on a lawn. This excellent image has something of a sci-fi feel to it. 17 Jul 2008 2:15pm @Viewfinder: Neither Vf lol it's funny though, I wouldn't know myself if I hadn't been there, thanks a lot! @Alun Lambert: Thanks a lot Alun I appreciate it :) Daryl from Amagasaki, JapanHe looks a bit confused by what's going on... funny (hope he's not a friend of yours... I don't mean he looks stupid... oh forget it...!) 17 Jul 2008 2:45pm @Daryl: lol there's nothing wrong with your comment Daryl lol all will be revealed tomorrow ;) Thanks a lot ! Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaExcellent. I think I can see him holding a cigarette in his left hand. You know that pause before he takes another puff. (no I'm not a smoker, but I'm married to one and sometimes I watch out the window to see him do his silly thing). I think this guy is looking at all the smoke and thinking "I did this?" 17 Jul 2008 2:50pm @Marion: lol good one Marion, I use to be a pack and half a day smoker, I know that brief pause lol I stopped 15 years ago ;) all will be revealed tomorrow laughingwolf from Canadaneat! i know there're dust bunnies, but are there smoke bunnies, as well? ;) 17 Jul 2008 2:56pm @laughingwolf: There are all kinds of bunnies Tony :) Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesWhat a longgggggg leannnnnn man AND shadow. He does seem sad... 17 Jul 2008 3:09pm @Judy: You're such a sweetie Judy, tomorrow all will be revealed ahahahahha ;) Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaThe swirling smoke sure frames him nicely. Very well done. 17 Jul 2008 3:18pm @Michael Rawluk: Not quite smoke, you'll see it more clearly tomorrow, thanks very much Michael :) Janice Thomson from CanadaHe is definitely smoking a cigarette and watching his house? burn at the same time - how ironical...superb capture and a very emotional one mon amie. 17 Jul 2008 5:10pm @Janice Thomson: lol thanks so much dear Janice, you'll get the full pic tomorrow ; @Scotfot: Thanks a lot Bob, you'llget a better idea with tomorrow's photo :) Jennifer Radio from Irelandsuch a forlorn image... I love it. he seems wrapped in an enigma. 17 Jul 2008 6:37pm @Jennifer Radio: How nicely put, thanks a lot J Radio ;) DaveB from Exeter, United KingdomWicked B&W shot Lorraine, the water vapour (I think!) gives it a really aged feel, and it's a great pose! 17 Jul 2008 6:38pm @DaveB: You got that right Dave lol tomorrow will provide a clearer picture ;( Thanks a bunch! Illuci from Hurdegaryp, NetherlandsGreat almost still life, it's only the guy surrounded by the smoke, amazing how this can fascinate! Good job, well done! 17 Jul 2008 8:00pm @Illuci: Thanks so much Erik, not much smoke actually, only from his cigarette that you don't see...you'll know tomorow...;) standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceCette photo est magnifique Lorraine. Cet homme et son ombre, ces embruns reflétés dans la lumière...j'adore l'atmosphère! 17 Jul 2008 9:46pm @standley: Merci beaucoup Richard, demain tu vas avoir une meilleure idée du scénario :) Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomWell... quite a few comments about cigarettes and smoking, but I think the smoke is caused by Lorraine burning the burgers on the bbq. Very good finish to the image. 17 Jul 2008 10:26pm @Observing: Well..MM I would be more likely to smoke than bbq, although I quit smoking 15 years ago...lol thanks a lot, tomorrow is the true picture ;) akarui from Kagoshima, JapanI don't think that there was fog because of the sun and strong shadows. Your title says smoke so I suppose that something is burning, may be some grass? 17 Jul 2008 11:12pm @akarui: Not bad Akarui, but no :) the only smoke was actually from the cigarette that you don't see...you'll see it better tomorrow, thanks so much! MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomDave has already said what I thought it was! :) a water fountain with the sun behind it possibly. 17 Jul 2008 11:21pm @MaryB: Can't fool you guys ! lol the true picture tomorrow sweetie ;) Photographs by M.E. from Tustin, United Statesthis is an awesome picture, lorraine! i love the lighting, the b&w treatment and the smokey effect!
