Siam from Chaingrai, ThailandUne bonne prise de vue, sur ce noir et blanc, un portrait qui fume un joint, ou un cigare pas de la havane. 27 Oct 2008 6:04am @Siam: Un cigare, je crois lol merci beaucoup Siam :) dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaYou've captured a look that says she needed the smoke break! Wonder what she was so deep in thought about. 27 Oct 2008 6:19am @dobbino: That I can't say, but this is her truck and she stopped it, got out, sat on the sidewalk and lit up ;) standley from Carquefou, FranceTrès belle prise de vue Lorraine. Il semblerait que cette cigarette la transporte dans des pensées profondes... 27 Oct 2008 6:31am @standley: Loin du camion, c'est sure, merci beaucoup Ricahrd :) Calusarus from St Sorlin en Valloire, FranceAt the first glance, the truck presence was surprising, but with such a title, this is a nice little story. 27 Oct 2008 6:40am @Calusarus: I know the photo is better without the truck, but it fascinated me that she parked the truck, sat on the sidewalk and lit up...so I had to leave the truck in :) GJC from Kyoto, JapanThe plight of smokers in much of the world -- outside, cold and lonely. 27 Oct 2008 6:52am @GJC: You've said it GJC, she didn't want to smoke up her truck, she left it, just to light up, then she went back in...:) @Hans: Thanks very much Hans :) tyan from Singapore, Singaporeshe looked melancholic, esp with the BW effect,as if she was very deep in thought. And a pretty lady at that too.:) but i do wish she wasnt puffing her life away. ps sorry i havnt been to visit,my flu developed into pneumonia and i was resting most of the time:) 27 Oct 2008 8:11am @tyan: She left her truck to smoke :) sorry you haven't been well, you have to take care of yourself sweetie :) Alun Lambert from cheshire, United Kingdomgood shot, she is thinking about something 27 Oct 2008 8:26am @Alun Lambert: She is thinking of not smoking up the truck lol Ian Bramham from Manchester, United KingdomI really love your portrait work Lorraine and this is one of your very best....lovely work! (PS - when are you getting that DSLR? :-) 27 Oct 2008 8:41am @Ian Bramham: Thanks a lot Ian, this was unusual as she left the truck to smoke up then went back in... DaveB from Exeter, United KingdomNice candid shot Lorraine, mmm, smoking! I had alot of problems getting on on saturday, gave up as soon as I had my shot up! 27 Oct 2008 9:40am @DaveB: Better than that Dave, she left the Truck to smoke, then went back in lol yeah it's been touch and go lately with Am3 António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalA very good portrait, Lorraine. You captured perfectly her attitude or mood. 27 Oct 2008 9:42am @António Pires: It would have been better without the truck, but it was part of the 'plot' so to speak, she parked the truck, sat down, lit up, and when she was done got back in the truck lol Betty from New Jersey, United StatesShe really needed that, didn't she? Great capture, Lorraine! 27 Oct 2008 9:45am @Betty: She did indeed, even left the truck for it...I thought that was unusual, but thoughtful lol thanks so much marianne from Toulouse, from France, Francela cigarette du condamné ... elle semble bien pensive ... 27 Oct 2008 10:06am @marianne: Merci beaucoup Marianne, elle est sortie du camion pour fumer...merci beaucoup ;) Veronelle from Lens, Francejoli portrait, y aurait-il une analogie entre la cigarette et le pot d'echappement ? 27 Oct 2008 10:30am @Veronelle: Merci Veronelle, pas tout a fait, c'est plutot qu'elle ait quitte le camion, pour allumer son petit cigare a l'exterieur, a termine et puis retourne dans le camion, c'est la raison pour laquelle je n'ai pas enlever le camion, merci beaucoup ;) Betsy Barron from Glenmoore, United Statesshe's ruminating on something... something serious! nice capture! 27 Oct 2008 11:06am @Betsy Barron: Thanks alot Betsy, it's her truck, she left it to smoke then went back in lol Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesThis is a step in the right direction, then, if she wanted her truck interior to be smoke-free. 27 Oct 2008 11:15am @Judy: Hey Judy, can't quite call it a drive-by shot, as she drove by lol that is I was walking into my living room when suddenly across the street this truck just stops, it's not a place where a car or truck usually parks. So I looked and the young lady got out of the truck, and sat on the sidewalk, of course I reached for my camera, and as she light up, I took a few shots through my window lol thanks a lot ;) Kaneabel from London, United KingdomNice Shot, Lorraine! The B&W has the impact of making her look lonely and thoughtful! I think if you had captured some smoke, it would have added a litte more drama, but I guess, it would be asking for too much on candid passerby shot! BTW, interesting looking cigarette-she is smoking-white coloured filter and a dark coloured cigarette body!!! 27 Oct 2008 11:35am @Kaneabel: Hey KA, the drama was that she left the truck to smoke then went back in, the smoke didn't interest me...by the way it's a small cigar lol Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaThe black and white works very well in this crisp image. the light is wonderful. 27 Oct 2008 11:35am @Michael Skorulski: Thanks so much Michael, the story is that she parked the truck, left it sat on the sidewalk light a cigar, and only went back when she was finished, and all this through my living room window :) Forouz from N, GermanyWhy don't you like me? I could be brown 27 Oct 2008 11:42am @Forouz: For a second Forouz, I truly thought you had lost it, THEN I remembered the song, I LOVE THAT SONG...thank you so much ;) Craig from Vacaville, California, United StatesI quit smoking a few years back and miss it terribly (although I'm still glad I quit). Her gaze reminds me of the meditative quality to smoking. Very good shot! 27 Oct 2008 11:42am @Craig: Agree with you 100% there I'll admit it : I MISS MY PLAYERS' LIGHT REGULAR CIGARETTE, I want to smoke again, be one of those lol MJ from Delaware, United Statesgreat capture of the concentration and thought going on in her mind 27 Oct 2008 11:51am @MJ: Thanks a lot MJ, I appreciate it :) Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomIt looks like a joint she's smoking..... :D 27 Oct 2008 12:01pm @Observing: it's like a cigare, a slim cigare, truly :) she didn't want to smoke up the truck lol Fliss from Melbourne Beach, United StatesNice shot... I do like the B/W 27 Oct 2008 12:13pm @Fliss: Thanks alot Flissy, personally I missed IT gosh I miss smoking LOL Barbara from Florida, United StatesExceptional clarity, especially if this was captured through your window. The B&W goes very well. 27 Oct 2008 12:41pm @Barbara: You Know what Barb, I miss it! I miss it like Hell! Truly...and it bugs me how smokers are treated, honestly...even if I've stopped smoking 15 years ago Wolfgang - vu@granby from Granby, Québec, CanadaJ'ai lu la semaine dernière dans "La Presse" que sans le nombre massiv de femmes qui ont commencées de fumer dans les années '70 le taux de cancer serait dramatiquement à la baisse au Canada... 27 Oct 2008 12:45pm @Wolfgang - vu@granby: Et beaucoup beaucoup beaucoup de gens meurent sans n'avoir jamais fume...J'ai arrete il y a 15 ans et ce que je me rappelle est le plaisir intense que fumer me donnait, ca me manque. Merci Gilles :) Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesShe is a poster child for all the reasons why smoking is not good for you. Besides health, now it is also that when you stop your truck on some random street to get out and sit on the curb to smoke your tiny cigar, a stalker person with a camera could be sitting in her living room across the street, taking your picture and putting that same photo of you and your silly habit on the internet, where it can be seen and commented on, all over the world. <wicked grin> 27 Oct 2008 12:51pm @Viewfinder: Now that is wicked, not my fault she sat in front of me, plus the truth be told, I miss smoking like HELL! Well not cigare, I don't like cigare, I miss my Player's Light Regular, that was one yummy cigarette lol Janice Thomson from CanadaLove your portraiture work - you're always able to catch those intimate moments of people's lives. Excellent mon amie. 27 Oct 2008 2:17pm @Janice Thomson: MMM I know Janice, I keep on fighting this tendency to papparize, and just when I think I got it beat, a photo presents itself in front of my window...what' a photographer to do? ;) @laughingwolf: ...I miss it so... An interesting moment... 27 Oct 2008 3:11pm @Daryl: Thanks a lot Daryl :) MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomWonderful candid shot Lorraine, her expression really makes you wonder what she had on her mind. 27 Oct 2008 3:27pm @MaryB: Shouldn't papparize like this, but geeze right in front of my window, what's a photographer to do ;) Thanks a lot dear MaryB :) alex centrella from California, United Statesgreat capture, sure wish i can quit. 27 Oct 2008 4:02pm @alex centrella: Oh Alex, I miss it so, sometimes ;) yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greecevery nice catch - she looks to enjoy the smoke 27 Oct 2008 5:10pm @yiannis krikis: I hope it helps her, I know that way back when i use to smoke, nothing helped me think a problem through like a cigarette ;) terrorkitten from Bath, United KingdomVery nice candid capture Lorraine....caught her right on the exhale! 27 Oct 2008 5:23pm @terrorkitten: LOL that's cute Phil, thanks :) Jasp from Plymouth, United KingdomWonder what she is thinking ?....
